Original Eurostar on track to arrive in Margate
The first Eurostar test train ran on 20 June 1993, and the full daily service began running on 28 May 1995, achieving an average end-to-end speed of 171.5 km/h (106.6 mph) from London to Paris.
Now, thanks to the generosity of Eurostar, The One:One Collection is delighted to announce that we’ll soon be welcoming an original Eurostar power car vehicle and First Class carriage (with standard and articulated bogie at each end) to the collection’s home in Margate, Kent.
These exciting pieces of modern rail history were transported by ferry from France to the UK in October 2019. From there, they travelled under protective tarpaulins by road to Loram in Derby, arriving on 31 October. They’re spending the next few months there, being carefully restored to exhibition condition, before being brought back to Kent (again by road) to their new home.
Their arrival is anticipated sometime in early 2020 – so keep an eye out for news of their movement, and the next opportunity to view them.
